Justin Bieber has been in a downward spiral in the last year, but is he finally attempting to change his ways?

Justin Bieber has had a rough year. But, depending on who you ask, most of that is his own doing. The pop star has been arrested, had his house raided, and more than 100,000 people signed a White House petition to have him deported.

But has Bieber finally learned his lesson? The singer sent a tweet on Tuesday, April 22 that made him sound like he is hoping to turn over a new leaf.

But despite the hopeful tweet, the 20-year-old may be asking a court for special treatment in his case. His attorneys filed papers in a Miami court asking for his May 5 trial date to be postponed. It's not clear if this has anything to do with the fact that Bieber took his mom and friends on a surprise vacation to Japan, but there are some in Hollywood who think the singer needs some more structure in his life. Just a few days ago, Jon Hamm said Bieber needs someone in his life to tell him "no."

A few weeks ago, Rob Lowe also added his two cents, saying Bieber's downward spiral is due to the fact that he knows "80 percent of his audience doesn't give a s*** about the music."

But things may be looking up for the Biebs. He is now hanging out with on-again, off-again girlfriend, Selena Gomez, and many say she is the positive influence in his life. But he is also once again focusing on his music, working with artists like Austin Mahone and Lil Wayne. He even made a surprise appearance at Coachella.

The thing that made him famous may also be what saves him.
