NKOTB member Joey McIntyre proved that his Boston ties run deep as he participated in the Boston Marathon for a second year.

On Monday, thousands of runners ran the Boston Marathon a little over a year from the day bombs exploded at the race finish line. This year, New Kids on the Block singer Joey McIntyre joined the throngs of runners again after witnessing the mayhem in 2013.
He shared his experience with Access Hollywood last year. “I was about 150 yards away, so I heard the explosion and everything.” McIntyre had crossed the finish line only five minutes before.

McIntyre wasn’t the only boy-bander from NKOTB who ran yesterday. Danny Wood also ran and finished a strong 3:50. He shared a photo on Instagram posing with his race number alongside his sister, a breast cancer survivor.
It’s clear that the city means a lot to the two Massachusetts natives. McIntyre posted his thoughts on Tumblr before the race. “My heart keeps growing for this town. It’’s such a privilege to be a part of this town. This race. This comeback. This home. Thank for helping me get here.”
Long live #BostonStrong.
