Celebs 101: 10 Things you didn’t know about Lennon Parham & Jessica St. Clair

Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair star in the new USA Network comedy Playing House, but these real-life BFFs have far more in common than a TV show. Tune in April 29 to watch the premiere.

Lennon Parham:

1. What’s something that always makes you cry, without fail?

The funeral scene from Steel Magnolias. Sally Field gets me every time.

2. What’s one thing no one ever told you about being pregnant?

I read pretty much every book on pregnancy and took a 10-week childbirth intensive, so I had a heads-up about most of it and that really helped me to make it through without freaking out. But no one can really prepare you for the amount of love that will be surging through your body once that baby comes.

3. What’s one trait every man needs to have?

A sense of humor. ‘Cause I’m going to say and do a lot of weird stuff and I’m gonna need him right beside me being just as weird.

4. Fill in the blank: When I’m sad, I _____.

… might switch on the Indigo Girls and take my soul through a journey of magical harmonies. Those ladies understand it all, and they know how to use a hammer. Respect.

5. What’s your guilty pleasure?

On weekends, I like to curl up with an In-N-Out burger, a shorty Coke, and an episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race. This season I was very sad to see Laganja Estranja go, but we have to believe everything happens for a reason, don’t we?

6. In your opinion, what’s your best physical trait?

I’ve got very nice ankles. I would have killed it in the late 1800s.

7. If you had to “play house” with another celebrity, who would it be?

I would love to take a dance class with Channing Tatum choreographed by So You Think You Can Dance’s Mandy Moore. She’d have me leaping into his arms and flipping upside down and he’d have no problem wrangling my gangly body.

8. You’ve been blonde and brunette… so, do blonde or brunettes have more fun?

Blondes get the attention but brunettes get the respect so it’s kind of a wash. But let’s be honest, gingers are the ones having the most fun. They have nothing to lose.

Jessica St. Clair:

1. What’s something that always makes you cry, without fail?

People cheering for strangers at the New York Marathon.

2. What’s one thing no one ever told you about being a mom?

Well, for starters I feel that I was not properly warned about the horrors of childbirth. During my labor, I was complaining about how hard it was, and my nurse looked me in the eye and quoted Britney Spears: “You wanna push a human out of you? Then you better work bitch. So let’s work!” But once that work is done, it’s the best thing ever.

3. What’s your biggest pet peeve?

It’s not so much a pet peeve, but adults with tiny teeth really set me off.

4. Give us your best relationship advice.

Those six words: Mary J. Blige, No More Drama.

5. What’s the coolest thing in your closet?

My black Club Monaco power blazer with a leather lapel and Asian-inspired lining that I wore in the 6th episode of Playing House. I really feel like I’m leaning in when I slip that number on. Other than that, a bunch of tiny onesies with sheep on them.

6. What’s one mistake you made, that you hope your daughter never does?

I hope she doesn’t discover Ani DiFranco junior year in college and get inspired to get a short haircut that leads six or seven people to comment that she looks just like Hugh Grant in Four Weddings and a Funeral.

7. What’s the hardest thing about fame?

I love to wear a loose-fitting, breathable pajama pant, but if you wear those in public you look like a crazy person (or so I’ve been told). So I only wear them at home… and at work.

8. In your opinion, what’s your best physical trait?

I’ve been told I have the hair of a female news anchor. It’s often mistaken for a wig, which I take as a compliment.

9. If you had to “play house” with another celebrity, who would it be?

I’d love to host a weekly tea party with Channing Tatum. Whip up a lemon curd, get into some scones, and not invite Lennon so that I can have C-Tates all to myself. We’d chat about our dreams and then I’d secretly turn the heat on and ask him to move my piano upstairs.
