In a slightly uncomfortable, yet totally hilarious, exchange, Johnny Depp lubed up his lips with bubblegum-flavored ChapStick and went straight in for a kiss with the host ofJimmy Kimmel Live! yesterday.

The lip lock was not the duo's first, and was actually prompted by the sting Jimmy Kimmel felt when he learned of Depp's impending nuptials to fiancée, Amber Heard.

"I hate to start things off negatively or akwardly, but last time you were here, we kissed a few times; I felt like we really hit it off," Kimmel deadpanned. "We had a few laughs. It really seemed like we had some chemistry. And then the next thing I know, I hear you are engaged. And I get no call, not even a text. It was rude, was what it was, to come in and do that and to just disappear. Anything you want to say?"

Depp just gave his trademark boyish grin and said, "I feel bad about it, but I also feel like, between you and I, it's kind of an 'anything goes' kind of thing. You know what I mean?"

Although Kimmel is sure to be joking about his disapproval of Depp's engagement, we know at least one person who undoubtedly is less than stoked about Depp's new ring: his ex, Winona Ryder.

Sources say that Ryder, who co-starred with Depp in Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands and dated the actor from 1989 to 1993, feels the age gap between Depp and Heard is inappropriate (he's 50, she's 27), and she is disappointed that he jilted his long-time partner and baby mama, Vanessa Paradis, for a much younger woman. Paradis, 41, has taken the high road, publicly wishing the couple well, despite the fact the two met while she was still with Depp.

During the interview with Kimmel, however, relationship drama seemed the farthest thing from the Cry-Baby star's mind. Depp continued to playfully balm his lips and lustfully look at Kimmel for the entirety of the interview, until the host couldn't ignore the situation any longer.

"Why do I feel like I just checked into prison?" he playfully asked. Depp quickly finished Kimmel's sentence for him, "And you're about to get your salad tossed? It's a frightening feeling, isn't it?"

"So are we going to do this? Is it going to happen?" asked Kimmel.

"It's been happening since I walked out here," replied Depp.
