Willard Scott is a newlywed at age 80
You are never too old to find true love! NBC's beloved weatherman Willard Scott tied the knot in Florida on Tuesday.
He's been celebrating birthdays with viewers for years and now Willard Scott has something big to celebrate as well. On Tuesday, the 80-year-old weatherman married girlfriend Paris Keena in Fort Myers, Florida.
According to Today.com, the couple met back in 1977 when Keena worked for an NBC affiliate in Washington, D.C. Although they stayed in touch over the years, they officially reconnected 11 years ago. They have lived between Florida, Virginia and Connecticut during their courtship.
On Wednesday morning's broadcast of The Today Show, Matt Lauer revealed the big news to the viewers.
He shared, "By the way we also have some great news this morning, another surprise wedding in our family. Savannah Guthrie is not the only one who recently got married. Yesterday, Willard Scott and his longtime partner Paris Keena tied the knot."
Lauer asked them about their honeymoon plans and the bride had the sweetest response.
She replied, "Our whole life has been a honeymoon."
Scott has been with the morning news show since 1980. Although he went into semi-retirement in 1996 when Al Roker took over, he has continued to wish centenarians a happy birthday twice a week in a segment sponsored by Smucker's.
He was married to Mary Dwyer Scott for 43 years until her death in 2002. They had two children together.
Congratulations, Willard and Paris!
