Lorde (whose real name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor) had a swift rise to fame, and she doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Yet even though she's in serious demand and the whole world all wants a little piece of her, the "Royals" hit maker has somehow managed to find time for love.

The 17-year-old star is dating her beau, photographer James Lowe, and little is known about their relationship... until now, that is. If you've ever wondered what it's like to date a superstar, well then you're in luck because Lowe has opened up about their relationship for the first time in his blog called Ono Field.

"I've written, deleted, re-written, and deleted this post at least five times over the past few months, wondering when would be an appropriate time to start writing again," Lowe explains.

Lorde ditches her trademark curls for first Grammy performance >>

"Since originally sitting down to write this post, Ella has become a two-time Grammy winner. She has taken home a Brit too. Currently she is on the opposite side of the world on tour. As much as I miss her, I couldn't be prouder of what she has achieved so far," he gushes.

The couple made headlines a few months ago, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons, and the 24-year-old photographer came under fire from racist One Direction fans who took to social media to tell him just how ugly they thought he and Lorde were. Being shoved into the spotlight is not always easy, but the negative remarks from people who don't matter haven't gotten the couple down, and their relationship is still going strong.

"My life is probably a lot different now, but it feels normal on the inside," Lowe confessed. "Jared Leto said that fame doesn't change you, it changes everyone around you. While I'm not the center of attention here (and f***, the times I have, it's never been fun), I do become aware of the people around me and their transparency."

And fame does have an upside, but what does that mean for Lowe?

Lorde asks former nemesis Taylor Swift for advice >>

"I've been able to tell tales of the many amazing people I've met along the way — from fellow photographers, to artists I've always admired and never thought I'd get to meet, let alone have a simple thing like coffee with."

"More importantly, I've found a little inspiration from new faces. People I look up to. People whose work I admire so much. For all of this I have to thank the one I look up to the most. Who I admire the most. Who still fills the little voids I try to avoid."
