Madonna’s new Instagram pic is the pits

Being Madonna is the pits — literally, in a new Instagram snapshot.

Madonna posted a hair-raising Instagram pic that has fans debating what’s hot and what’s not when it comes to body hair.

The pop icon donned a wire cage bustier, black bra, bow tie and heavy makeup. A sign behind her reading “Stage B” leads the viewer to believe she is on the set of a video or pro photo shoot (selfies not included).

Her pose, with one hand on her hip and the other behind her head exposing her hairy pit, is reminiscent of the scene in her breakout movie Desperately Seeking Susan when her character dries out her armpits using the hand dryers in a public bathroom.

Earlier, Madge had posted a titillating snap of her butt in fishnet stockings and leather panties but later removed it. Too bad because that butt is pretty darn impressive for a woman of any age, let alone a 55-year-old.

The tag #artforfreedom refers to the singer’s Art for Freedom global initiative to encourage artistic expressions meant to bring awareness to human rights violations.

Hairy pits are nothing new to the star. In a 2011 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Madonna revealed she’s been sporting the look off and on since high school.

“[G]oing to high school, I saw how popular girls had to behave to get the boys. I knew I couldn’t fit into that. So I decided to do the opposite,” she told the mag. “I refused to wear makeup, to have a hairstyle. I refused to shave. I had hairy armpits.”

“The boys in my school would make fun of me. ‘Hairy monster.’ You know, things like that,” she said, adding, “Straight men did not find me attractive. I think they were scared of me because I was different. I’ve always asked, ‘Why? Why do I have to do that? Why do I have to look this way? Why do I have to dress this way? Why do I have to behave this way?'”
