Who's hotter? Theo James vs. Ansel Elgort
Who wins this round of the battle of the hottest? We pit two Divergent stars against each other. Who comes out on top?
Theodore Peter James Kinnaird Taptiklis was born Dec. 16, 1984 in Oxford, England. He's of Greek, English and Scottish descent. He's the baby of the family with two older brothers and two older sisters. While in his last year at drama school, he was cast in the film You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger. For any Downton Abbey fans, he played the insanely handsome Turkish diplomat, Kemal Pamuk, in Season 1.
Ansel Elgort was born March 14, 1994 in New York City, New York, to a fashion-photographer father and an opera-director mother. Like James, he is also the baby of the family with two older siblings. He is of Russian Jewish, English, German and Norwegian descent. He started taking acting classes when he was 12 and appeared in an Off-Broadway play, Regrets, by Matt Charman.
Theo James: A classically trained actor, James guest-starred on a handful of television shows and took the lead on CBS' Golden Boy. In addition to starring in Divergent he is building a diverse film résumé that includes The Inbetweeners Movie, The Domino Effect and Underworld: Awakening. He also plays guitar, saxophone and piano and is the lead singer of the London-based band Shere Khan.
Ansel Elgort: His first on-screen role was in the remake of Carrie (2013). After filming Divergent, he booked the role of Augustus Waters in the film adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars and in the upcoming comedy Men, Women & Children. He is also a classically trained dancer and a DJ.
- 1. Very close to his family and cites his parents as his source of inspiration.
- 2. Growing up, he loved reading Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings books.
- 3. The final fight scene in Divergent is his favorite scene of the movie.
- 1. He tried out for the School of American Ballet when he was 9.
- 2. He DJs and produces dance music under the alias Ansolo and recently signed a record deal.
- 3. He modeled for Teen Vogue when he was 15.
Theo James: A certified scuba diver, he also enjoys deep-sea diving and cliff jumping. He also dances (he's trained in ballet, tap and jazz) and loves rugby and basketball. Additionally, he took on boxing to build muscle.
Ansel Elgort: He is a trained dancer and clearly keeps fit (the 20-year-old metabolism probably helps too).
Theo James: He is quoted as saying, "I know I often get a job because of how I look. I hope that I keep the job because of how I act." He is serious about his work and doesn't just ride on how devastatingly handsome he is. He maintains a humble, self-deprecating humor about his newfound fame. He also attended a screening of his movie with Shailene Woodley to support her mother's charity, All it Takes.
Ansel Elgort: He did a photo shoot for a calendar to aid charity at his old school called The 12 Months of Ansel.
Theo James: He attended the University of Nottingham and got his undergrad degree in philosophy. He also trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Ansel Elgort: He attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and the Stagedoor Manor summer camp.
Theo James: He claims he had a girlfriend for a long time and doesn't feel like "that much of a player." With all the rumors about him and Shailene Woodley dating, we'll see if there ends up being any truth to the gossip.
Ansel Elgort: Unconfirmed rumors as to whether or not he and his ballet-dancer girlfriend are still an item.
