Cheryl Ann Walker, grandmother to Paul Walker's only daughter, Meadow, has asked courts to appoint her as guardian of the 15-year-old girl, according to E! News.

The court documents obtained by E! state, "It will be necessary and convenient for Petitioner to be appointed as the guardian of the person and the estate." The petition was filed yesterday, March 18.

The mention of convenience probably relates to the fact that Meadow and her biological mother, Rebecca Soteros, an ex-girlfriend of Paul's, are already living with Cheryl. The matriarch also stated in the filing that, "The mother has a drinking problem."

Meadow was the sole beneficiary named in Paul's will and stands to inherit up to $25 million. Paul's dad, Paul Walker III, was named the executor of his son's estate and it was laid out in the will for Cheryl to become guardian of Meadow should anything happen. However, conflict arose concerning the guardianship because Meadow had been living with Soteros.

The Walker family believes that Meadow needs extra legal protection, considering the size of the estate and the state of her mother.

This news is coming about a week after an unnamed man attempted to cash in on the tragic death of the Fast & Furious franchise star. On March 13, an anonymous seller put what he claimed to be items found at Paul's death scene up for auction.

On the other hand, Paul's brother, Cody Walker, is battling to keep Paul's great legacy alive by stepping in as head of Paul's beloved charitable organization, Reach Out Worldwide. "As Paul would say, 'When you put good will out there, it's amazing what can be accomplished.' We can all make a difference in this world and I am honored to join the ROWW team in fulfilling my brother's legacy and ensure that the good my brother did lives on," Cody said in a statement announcing his takeover.

Cheryl Walker also noted in the court docs that she successfully raised four children and is a "loving and responsible person."

What do you think about the sad situation? Should Paul's mother be awarded guardianship and control over the girl's estate? Or should Meadow's mother still be allowed control?
