Elizabeth Vargas' husband slams "vicious" affair rumors
Elizabeth Vargas' husband cheated while she was in rehab for alcohol treatment? Marc Cohn had no comment on that upsetting rumor — almost!
Elizabeth Vargas is once again on the other side of headline news. Rather than the current focus being on the TV anchor's visit to rehab to deal with alcohol abuse, the gossip mill is churning up rumors her husband was unfaithful while she was at such a low point.
Citing multiple sources, the New York Post's Page Six first reported Wednesday that Marc Cohn had been unfaithful to his wife of 11 years, alleging he had a romantic relationship with their mutual friend.
"I have no comment regarding vicious rumors about a so-called 'affair,'" Cohn, who is a Grammy-winning songwriter, said in a statement to the Daily Mail.
However, despite claiming he wanted to remain mum on the topic, Cohn went on to say, "I have long encouraged and supported Elizabeth’s road to recovery, which has been challenging for all concerned."
The 54-year-old added, "Out of deference to my family, I will not comment further on this sensitive and private matter."
Indeed, both Cohn and Vargas' individual Twitter accounts appear to be free of any messages relating to the affair rumors.
Flywheel cofounder Ruth Zukerman, the woman whom Cohn reportedly slept with while his wife was battling alcoholism, is currently divorced. Depending on your sources, he and Vargas are said to be either separated right now or in a strained marriage.
