Céline Dion is counting her blessings as her husband, René Angélil, recovers from throat surgery. Thankfully, the singer says all is now “under control.”
Fifteen years after first battling cancer, René Angélil is once again recovering from surgery. The 72-year-old husband of songstress Céline Dion is said to be on the mend after spending a lot of downtime at home.
As if headlining a Las Vegas residency wasn’t enough, the “My Heart Will Go On” hit maker has been busily nursing her spouse of nearly 20 years back to health and being mom to their three children.
“I don’t want René to stress out with work-related issues,” 45-year-old Dion shared in a statement Monday. “I want him to focus on getting back to 100 percent. I’ve been doing my shows at the Colosseum, and everything’s under control.”
Angélil first faced throat cancer in 1999, at which time the singer ground her career to a halt to care for him.
“At home we’ve been spending a lot of quality time with the family,” Dion, mom to 13-year-old son René-Charles and 3-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson, went on to say.
“We feel very fortunate that we’ve been able to get the best care possible, and we thank God every day for helping us get through this ordeal.”
Join us in wishing Céline Dion, René Angélil and the rest of their family nothing but health and happiness. The longtime couple, who first met when she was 12 and he was her music manager, are due to celebrate their 20th anniversary this coming December!
