2014 Oscars red carpet: Celebs who brought their families
Moms were the accessory of the night at the 2014 Oscars. Plenty of celebs chose to bring their family members to the biggest award show of the year.
Any big awards show is a great opportunity to showcase your skills — and show off your loved ones. With so many first time nominees at the 2014 Academy Awards, a lot of actors decided to bring their moms and families to the show.
Jared Leto brought his mom and his brother as well. The actor, who won for Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club, has thanked mom Constance Leto the last few times he has won for the role, and he again shared the opportunities he received because of her.
"In 1971... there was a teenage girl who was pregnant with her second child. She was a high school dropout and a single mom. She encouraged her kids to be creative and work hard," Leto said. "That girl is my mother and she's here tonight. I love you, Mom. Thank you for teaching me to dream."
Leto's brother Shannon also accompanied him. The brothers are both members of the band 30 Seconds to Mars; Jared is the lead singer and Shannon is the drummer.
Actress Lupita Nyong'o, who showed up looking gorgeous in a baby blue Prada gown, brought her entire family to the Oscars, including brother Peter. Nyong'o won Best Supporting Actress for her role in 12 Years a Slave.
Actor Matthew McConaughey, who was nominated for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, showed up on the red carpet with two lucky ladies on his arms — wife Camila Alves and mom Kay McCabe.
Wolf of Wall Street's Jonah Hill also showed up with his mom, Sharon Lyn Chalkin.
Hill's costar in Wolf of Wall Street, Leonardo DiCaprio, also brought his mom, Irmelin Indenbirken.
For some of the actors, Oscar night may be one of the most important moments of their lives, and they wanted to share it with those they love most.
