Forget The Big C — Laura Linney has been keeping a big secret! The actress, at age 49, has given birth to her first child.
Laura Linney‘s baby boy has arrived! Didn’t even know she was pregnant? Neither did the rest of the world.
In a birth-announcement surprise, word broke Friday that the 49-year-old actress has welcomed her first child with husband Marc Schauer.
The woman seen here in mid-June (possibly disguising the beginnings of a baby bump) gave birth on Jan. 8, a rep has confirmed to People. The rep added that the newborn boy’s name is Bennett Armistead Schauer.
Though further details about the pregnancy and baby are sparse, we do know Bennett is the first child for The Big C actress and her spouse of four years.
On Feb. 5, just three days before baby Bennett will celebrate being 1 month old, Linney is due to blow out 50 candles on her birthday cake.
“The subject matter is important to me personally,” the star told The New York Times in 2010 while speaking about her role as cancer patient Cathy Jamison. “The undertow of it deals with all of the stuff I’ve been obsessing about anyway: time. Living. Aging. Mostly, the privilege of aging.”
As for where Linney’s baby-name choice could have come from, “Bennett” remains a mystery. When it comes to “Armistead,” however, the Daily Mail has a theory. The publication noted on Friday that the actress has starred in several TV miniseries based on Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City, and she is said to be a fan of the author.
Join us in congratulating Laura Linney on the birth of her baby as well as on her upcoming milestone birthday!
