Speaking to Entertainment Tonight while promoting Thanks for Sharing, the 41-year-old mother of two offered, “My personal philosophy in life is that the more you shove under the rug, the more damage you do to yourself.”

Elaborating a bit more, Paltrow continued, “I think that the more that you are willing to reveal to yourself what your damage is, what your pain is, what your truth is, the more you’re able to really flourish as a human being.”

This star’s ability to open up about everything, including day-to-day parenthood tasks, may just be the secret to making her 10-year marriage to Cold Play’s Chris Martin work.

“I have little kids in school. I want to maintain my marriage and my family, so I have to be here when he comes home,” the Goop guru and mom to 9-year-old Apple and 7-year-old Moses added of how they communicate and coordinate in order to keep the family close.

“[Then] if I’m in Los Angeles for three days working, he does the school run, it’s always one of us.”

The happily married pair were recently spotted vacationing together in Hawaii with new tattoos! Paltrow now sports a ‘C’ near her hip, while Martin has a ‘G’ inked on his arm.
