Who knew? Mark Wahlberg is a real church boy
Mark Wahlberg is a real man of God. The actor is a dedicated churchgoer whose faith is critical to his happiness.
When Mark Wahlberg hit the scene in the early '90s he was a true bad boy. He was known for his raw image, uncensored behavior and penchant for dropping his pants at a moment's notice. That was Marky Mark, a rapper with nothing to lose.
That young man grew up to become an Academy Award-nominated actor, TV and film producer, entrepreneur and devoted husband and father. It's amazing what 20 years can do. Wahlberg is still as brutally honest as ever but he's nowhere near as abrasive. In fact, he's a self-proclaimed church boy.
According to People, Wahlberg's attitude and lifestyle is attributed to his faith. The Irish Catholic declared, "It's the most important part of my life. I don't try to push it on anybody and I don't try to hide it." The actor is so devoted that he often attends church twice on Sundays.
"If the kids are good, I'll have doughnuts for them at 6:30 in the morning, and I'll say, 'You guys gotta let Mommy sleep in!' I'll go to church at 7:30 and everybody will be eating breakfast when I come home," he said. "Then we'll go to church again at 10:30, if things aren't too hectic. Or if one of the kids has a game we'll watch them play. It's a nice family day."
Who knew Wahlberg was so domesticated? The actor's been married to model Rhea Durham since 2009 and they have four children together. Wahlberg himself is one of nine siblings, so he understands the large family dynamic.
