Simon Cowell's baby mama finalizes divorce
Simon Cowell's baby mama Lauren Silverman has finalized her divorce — and you'll never guess how she's celebrating.
Lauren Silverman is a free woman today after finalizing her divorce from former husband Andrew Silverman in a New York court — so will she marry her baby daddy Simon Cowell?
Cowell and Silverman began an affair while she was still very married — in fact, Cowell was supposedly very good friends with the husband of his mistress — and their misdeeds came to light in the most public of ways when she turned up pregnant.
"I am committed to sorting things out with Andrew as amicably as possible to ensure the well-being of our son," she said in a statement in August. "I would hope for some space and privacy in order to work through this."
Her ex was not amused, and named Cowell as a co-respondent in the couple's divorce case.
"Andrew considered Simon a real friend," a source told E! News. "At the end of the day, [Lauren] is pregnant by a man who's not her husband... There's really no defending it."
The pair reportedly reached a $2 million divorce settlement.
Silverman isn't letting the little matter of the end of her marriage stop her from celebrating her baby, though. She will enjoy a baby shower this weekend in Los Angeles at a private residence, surrounded by family and close friends. It is unclear if her 7-year-old son, of whom Silverman shares custody, or Cowell will be in attendance.
Even if Cowell shows up for the party, don't expect him to get too involved with such messy business as the birth. He told Hello! magazine, "I will be in the delivery room, but I'll just try not to look too far down… I know this sounds awful, but it's like, you don't want to go in to the restaurant while they're making your dinner. I think there are certain things you shouldn't see and that is one of them. I'll be very close by, but no [I won't watch]."
And he definitely will not be cutting the umbilical cord. "Are you mad? I'm not good with all that blood and guts stuff."
Maybe just stick with the party then, dude.
