Renee Zellweger surprised and shocked fans when she surfaced with a new, frozen-like face this week.

Emerging with a brand new, sort of younger face, Renee Zellweger surprised fans with her wide-eyed and frozen look, hinting at lots of cosmetic work.

Zellweger was seen last week at Armani's One Night Only event in New York City and she was decidedly missing her trademark squinting-signature expression she's so well known for. Instead, the Jerry Maguire star's face appeared very wide-eyed and frozen-like.

The new face ignited lots of speculation that the actress underwent plastic surgery and/or some large doses of Botox to make herself look younger. Her forehead and cheeks were very taut, which made her look more youthful, although her skin had that all-telling frozen trait that Botox leaves behind.

While she did, mostly, look fresh-faced, her normally full lips looked much thinner, while her hair also appeared flatter.

The 44-year-old actress' new face comes just days before she was to attend an event to honor fashion icon Giorgio Armani. Her new facade was photographed at a screening for the movie Long Shot: The Kevin Laue Story, and it was no surprise that the talk of the evening was the star's regenerated look.

Critics were actually quite complementary on Zellweger's face with one plastic surgeon, Anthony Youn, M.D., telling Radaronline that "she looks great — even better than how she looked when she debuted on Jerry Maguire."

But, many fans were not too taken with Zellweger's permanently-surprised look. "This is the biggest mistake of her life," an online commentator wrote. "She took all that was cute and different about her and destroyed it. Her career is over.

Another fan posted a tweet, expressing her disbelief at Zellweger's new looks.
