Awards we would love to see at the 2013 CMA Awards
The Country Music Awards air Nov. 6, 2013. Here's our three must-have awards that are sure to spice things up.
After all, no one does it bigger than country music stars so why not show off more of that glitz, glamour and fun?
Here are five awards we’d love to see at the 2013 CMA Awards. (And yes, we’re still hopeful that our 2012 requests for “Best fake country music star” and “Best male facial hair” will soon be CMA Awards staples.)
Hottest male country star in plaid flannel shirts
Whoever said that flannel is outdated has clearly missed out on the eye candy that is Luke Bryan in a perfectly-crumpled flannel button-down. And Luke isn’t alone — there’s something about male country music artists in that plaid flannel shirt that screams masculine lumberjack and sensitive crooner. This year we’d nominate Luke Byran, Jason Aldean and Kip Moore as the three hottest country stars in that oh-so-rugged plaid flannel.

Best hipster country crossover
Is it just us or has country gone a little bit hipster? From Taylor Swift’s love of all things retro and The Civil Wars’ Barton Hollow, hipsterism feels like a thriving trend behind those angst-ridden love songs and cowboy anthems. Still not convinced? We’d like to nominate Love and Theft, Thompson Square, The Civil Wars and Taylor Swift.

Best use of accessories for a music video or red carpet
Looking through photos of country music stars is a blur of sunglasses, rings, watches, giant necklaces and belts: all one on person. Some even managed throw in a hat, too. So we think it’s only fair to recognize those with the gift of uber-accessorizing. We nominate Pistol Annies, Florida Georgia Line, Sugarland and Big and Rich.
