INTERVIEW: Kendrick Sampson on The Vampire Diaries' unavoidable drama
We asked the new star of The Vampire Diaries all about his budding relationship with Caroline and the drama of Season 5.
With his deep voice and piercing eyes, our first impression of The Vampire Diaries' newcomer Kendrick Sampson was enough to make our hearts beat a little faster. Add to it a charming personality sprinkled with humor (along with some interview nerves) and we're sold.
Plus, he's a fan of the show.
"I love all of them," Sampson admitted, when asked if he watched The Vampire Diaries before getting cast as college senior Jesse on Season 5.
But he wasn't nervous when he found out he had landed the part.
"Honestly, a lot of actors are going to be mad. I didn't have a lot of time to be nervous," Sampson shared. "So I didn't have all the butterflies going in and all the nerves because it was, literally, like I found out at 2 p.m., and I was on a plane at 4 a.m."
The Texas native also spilled that the way to The Vampire Diaries' spoilers was through his stomach. The actor apparently has quite the affinity for Creole food. Ladies, if you want to win Sampson's heart, learn to cook a mean meal!
As for the goods (aka The Vampire Diaries spoilers), Sampson shared that things with Caroline (Candice Accola) are far from over. Just because Elena (Nina Dobrev) left college doesn't mean the fun stops! Plus, she could be back sooner than you think.
"There's going to be drama. I mean, it's Vampire Diaries. You can't really avoid the drama. I think that you can count on some good drama," Sampson told SheKnows.
When asked if we would see kissing between he and Caroline, the actor shied away from answering saying only, "You're going to see some awesome scenes with Jesse in them."
I guess we'll have to watch and see how his relationship with Caroline will unfold!
Watch Sampson in the new episode of The Vampire Diaries this Thursday on The CW.
