Rihanna is persona non grata at a sacred mosque after she got a little unholy with her Instagram account.
Rihanna has earned the ire of the entire Muslim community after a series of posts to her Instagram account revealed she’s too sexy for the Middle East.
The singer was visiting Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque when she began posing for the cameras. While she was dressed very conservatively, wearing a full coverage black jumper and a headscarf, the photos definitely rubbed followers of Islam the wrong way.
Why? How about one photo, which showed Rihanna staring down a group of female Muslims captioned “B**** stole my look” and another showing the star lounging near a sacred fountain captioned “No tan lines.”
Not only did Rihanna violate the “status and sanctuary of the mosque,” according to officials, she also took the photos in an area off-limits to visitors.
“She left without entering the mosque, after being asked to do so, due to the fact that she had taken some pictures that do not conform with the conditions and regulations put in place by the Centre’s management to regulate visits in a way that takes the status and sanctity of the mosque into consideration,” a representative for the mosque told local media outlets in a statement.
“The Centre strives to ensure that visitors enter the mosque in a decent fashion, and refrain from behaving in any way that is inconsistent with the sanctity of this religious place. Here, the Centre refers to a recent incident, involving a singer who came for a private visit to the mosque, at a gate that is not reserved for visitors, without prior coordination with the Centre’s management and without identifying herself.”
“She was asked to leave before entering the actual mosque, after taking some photos that did not fit within the rules and regulations set out to preserve the sacredness of the center.”
Rihanna has been causing international incidents all over the world during her Diamonds tour. First she snapped a pic with an endangered slow loris in Thailand, leading to the arrests of two men for possession of the protected animal. More arrests followed a series of tweets from the singer in which she detailed a Phuket sex show that was operating in a bar without a permit.
The star has yet to comment on the controversy.
