Forget People’s Sexiest Man Alive or Most Beautiful Woman, what about the best dressed? The magazine has given television and film actress Kerry Washington the coveted title. It’s an honor she earned thanks to her amazing red carpet looks.

Over the past year, Washington has been in high demand. Not only did she appear in the Oscar-nominated Django Unchained, but she headlines ABC’s Scandal. On Sunday, she’ll put her style to work at the Primetime Emmy Awards. The actress is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama.

We’re sure Washington will wear something to invoke all of our envy. When it comes to fashion, she lives by a basic rule. “I like to find balance in an outfit where it doesn’t feel too much of any one thing,” she told People. “It’s not dressing like a nun and it’s also not dressing like I’m in a swimsuit competition. It’s finding the middle ground.”
