Zac Efron is sober and on the mend after he reportedly did a stint in rehab earlier this year. It was one of Hollywood’s best-kept secrets.
It’s pretty hard to keep a secret in Hollywood these days, especially in an entertainment world that’s in a 24-hour news cycle. However, someone was able to keep a secret for quite a while.
On Tuesday, E! News revealed that Zac Efron completed a stint in rehab five months ago. He made his first public appearance back on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 6 to promote his upcoming film Parkland.
He didn’t have much to say at the event, but he did tell the entertainment channel, “I’m good, real good.”
The actor is now focused on his career and keeping his personal life in check.
A source told E! News, “He’s healthy, happy and not drinking. He’s taking time to focus on working.”
The news of his treatment came as a surprise to many of his fans. While Efron is constantly hounded by the paparazzi, he’s rarely seen in the active nightlife around the Los Angeles area.
The Hairspray star hasn’t commented publicly about the rehab reports, but his Twitter feed remains a promotional tool for his upcoming projects. It looks like his social media team primarily handles the account.
In addition to Parkland, the former Disney star has a trifecta of films coming out in 2014, including Are We Officially Dating? with Miles Teller, Neighbors with Seth Rogen and Autobahn with Amber Heard.
