Liam Hemsworth & Miley Cyrus hit the red carpet together

The couple that plays together, stays together. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth hit the red carpet for the first time in 14 months, hoping to end the speculation about their rocky romance.

The ongoing saga of Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus‘ engagement hopefully quieted the naysayers for a moment as the couple were spotted together on Thursday night. They hit the red carpet for the first time in 14 months for the Australian actor’s premiere of Paranoia.

The two wore complementary outfits with Cyrus in a black, red and gray Proenza Schouler dress and a pair of white Celine heels. Hemsworth donned a gray and black BOSS suit. While they looked smoking hot, the engaged duo looked unhappy in many of the photos on the red carpet.

According to Us Weekly, they were not having a great night out on the town.

A source told the entertainment magazine, “Miley and Liam acted like they didn’t even know each other the entire night. She was wearing her ring, but they acted as if they were strangers.”

The two young lovebirds have had a tumultuous year with cheating allegations on Hemsworth’s part with actress January Jones. These rumors began the speculation that the two were on the rocks and the engagement had ended.

Cyrus was then cryptically photographed without her ring, even though she claimed it was being resized. The singer also admitted that her music came first — before her wedding to Hemsworth.

While the breakup rumors have finally subsided, the couple don’t appear to be a picture of happiness.

The Us Weekly source also revealed that the former Disney Channel star showed a bit of affection toward her fiancé with a few kisses, but “they were awkward and he didn’t seem into them.”

Fans shouldn’t look to the hunky Aussie for any answers because he’s notoriously private about his personal life.

“On Twitter, I don’t share anything personal. I try to keep as much of my personal life to myself. I don’t feel the need to go out and show the world what’s happening in my life every second,” the actor said. “I think it’s a good chance to connect with fans and give fans an inside look on films you do. I think it’s great for that kind of thing, but it’s very new to me.”

Even with his brothers Chris and Luke opposing a marriage between the two, it seems like Cyrus and Hemsworth are still charting bumpy waters and forging ahead.

The couple got engaged in June 2012.
