The Sandlot actor arrested for headbutting a cop
The Sandlot actor Tom Guiry is in hot water after a drunken altercation with cops in a Texas airport.
The Sandlot actor Tom Guiry is facing felony charges after having a little too much to drink at an airport and headbutting a cop who was trying to help him.
Law enforcement officials told TMZ that Guiry threw back a few too many while awaiting a flight at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, and United Airlines employees deemed him too drunk to fly.
Houston police spokesman Victor Senties explained that Guiry was given the option to sober up in the city drunk tank, where he could have dried out for a few hours with no charges filed — but he wasn't exactly agreeable to that.
"At that point, [Guiry] gets agitated and makes repeated threats against the sergeant," Senties said, adding that the actor allegedly tried to headbutt the cop after being told he'd be arrested for public intoxication if he didn't cooperate.
"He's fine but he did suffer a laceration to the head," Senties said.
Guiry was booked on felony assault charges for causing bodily injury to a public servant. He is free on $5000 bail and has been ordered to appear in court on Sept. 17 to answer to the charges.
You're killin' us, Smalls.
This isn't the first time an alum of The Sandlot has run afoul of the law. Back in 2009 Marty York, who played smart-mouth Yeah-Yeah was arrested in Los Angeles for felony corporal injury after punching his girlfriend in the eye.
