Surviving Evil gives the survivors of these attacks a platform to showcase their incredible courage and to share their own stories. Here is a look at some of the heroes behind Surviving Evil.

Charisma Carpenter

Charisma Carpenter is an actress who is well-known for her roles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Beyond that, she is a survivor herself. Charisma survived a near-fatal attack when she was 22 years old. She and her friends were swimming when they were violently attacked by an armed police officer. Due to this experience, Carpenter brings a unique perspective as the show’s hostess.

Rubens and Marcela Borges

The Borges were living in central Florida when a gang invaded their house and demanded money. When they couldn’t provide the large sum, the Borges and their young son were kidnapped, their house was ransacked, and their funds were liquidated. After experiencing different terrors, Marcela was able to attack the ringleader with a knife and saved her family.

Lisa McVey

Lisa McVey was abducted by gunpoint by a serial killer when she was just 17 years old. Even though she was brutally attacked, she was able to pay special attention to her surroundings and was innovative enough to plant evidence in her abductor’s apartment. When she was unexpectedly freed, she was able to remember enough information about her attacker for him to be arrested.

Elizabeth Shoaf

Elizabeth Shoaf was just 14 when her deranged attacker strapped a bomb to her body and then proceeded to drag her into an underground bunker. She survived being raped and being held in terrifying conditions by her sheer will to live and bravery beyond her years.

Sheila Dates

Sheila Dates was taken hostage in Georgia along with her adult daughter Regina by a couple wanting money. Regina was held hostage while Sheila procured the money at gunpoint. However, Regina was strangled with a phone cord after the money was handed over. Sheila survived, only to learn about her daughter’s demise.
