What big muscles you have, Hugh Jackman
Is Hugh Jackman the strongest man in the universe? We say yes.
Hugh Jackman? More like jacked-huge man: The Wolverine showed off his impressive weight lifting techniques in a Twitter photo on Tuesday.
"If the bar ain't bendin, then you're just pretendin," he captioned on the photo that shows him lifting what appears to be approximately 10,000 pounds of weight.
It appears that he's putting in overtime at the gym to get back into Wolverine shape for the upcoming X-Men sequel, Days of Future Past, directed by Bryan Singer.
Not that he was ever out of shape. The actor revealed in May that he eats upwards of 5,000 calories a day to pack on the muscle required to play the character.
"You actually have to eat a lot, and I'm quite a skinny person," he said. "So I'm eating ridiculous amounts of food. I quite like everything I ate, but it’s more bland. Chicken breasts, but steamed, no salt. And steamed spinach."
It's not all chicken, though: Jackman added to Men's Health U.K. that he eats plenty of steak during training — so much that he's considering a switch to veganism.
"I eat one steak a day minimum. Now I don’t know any doctors recommending a 12-ounce steak every day. I’m pretty sure that’s not good. And my carbon footprint is disgusting," Jackman said.
"I think after this film I need to be vegan for a while, just as my way of giving back to the animals," he joked.
As for his workout routine? It's really quite (brutally) simple.
"The bottom line is you’ve got to train until you want to throw up and you have to eat until you want to throw up," he said. "And that’s pretty much it."
