Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem welcome new baby
Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem just slipped under the baby radar. Along with another famous couple, they welcomed a new bundle of joy on Monday.
If you're a celebrity expecting a baby, Monday, July 21 was definitely the best day to do it. With the arrival of the royal baby, no one seemed to pay attention to anything else. Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz were one such couple that welcomed their new bundle of joy on Monday, according to Hola!
Cruz and Bardem have been married since 2010, and already have a 2-year-old son, Leo. They confirmed they were expecting a second child back in February.
Cruz said she was "tremendously happy and excited" for the new baby.
Not long after Leo was born, the 39-year-old actress spoke with Vogue about how motherhood has changed everything in her life.
"From the first second, you feel so much love," she said. "It is a revolutionary experience. That's the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment, when you see that face, you are transformed forever."
Back in April 2012, she also spoke with Harper’s Bazaar about how that change she felt might affect her career. Cruz explained she planned to slow down her career to focus more on her family.
"Maybe I'll make one movie a year, maybe two," she said, according to Us Weekly. "But it's not going to be more than that because I have other priorities now."
It doesn't seem like Javier Bardem will be slowing down anytime soon. The actor just received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
There's no word on the new baby’s name, but he or she is not the only new addition to the Cruz family. Back in January, the actress’s sister Monica Cruz announced she was also expecting a child, but she was doing so with the help of a sperm donor.
Monica and her new baby, as well as other family members, were present at the birth of Cruz and Bardem’s new child.
