Big Brother contestant GinaMarie fired for being racist
GinaMarie Zimmerman discovers that what you say on TV really can have an impact on your life when her employer drops her over racial comments made on Big Brother.
This season of Big Brother has already gotten off to a controversial start, thanks to a few of the contestants making racial and homophobic slurs. One of the biggest culprits has been GinaMarie, who first made her opinions clear when she made comments such as: "Candice is definitely on the dark side (of the house) because she's already dark." GinaMarie also once referred to welfare as "n**ger insurance." All of these comments were caught by the live cameras and quickly spread throughout the internet as people reacted to the slurs.
While GinaMarie isn't the only person making racial and homophobic slurs in the house (Aaryn has been just as bad), she is the one who's lost her job for them.
TMZ reports that GinaMarie has been let go by East Coast USA Pageant, Inc., the company where she worked as a pageant coordinator. The company reportedly said that they were shocked that GinaMarie would "display such acts of hate and racism."
GinaMarie has been employed by East Coast USA Pageant for five years, but they insist, "We have never known this side of GinaMarie or have ever witnessed such acts of racism in the past."
They went on to say, "We are actually thankful that this show let us see GinaMarie for who she truly is. We would never want her to be a role model to our future contestant. In a business where we are surrounded by beauty every day, we are saddened to see something so ugly come from someone we put on a very high pedestal."
A representative told TMZ that the whole situation is especially upsetting for the company because they had encouraged their pageant girls to tune into the show to see GinaMarie and vote for her. They mistakenly thought that she could be a role model for other girls in the pageant world, but hopefully none of them will choose to follow in GinaMarie's blundering, bad-mouthing footsteps.
