SheKnows sits down with The Heat's dynamic duo, Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock, to talk about female bonding.

Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy make an unlikely duo in the female-oriented action comedy The Heat. But on-screen — like in real life — once you see their chemistry, their friendship makes perfect sense.

Watch as the ladies discuss how their working relationship blossomed into a real friendship and why making female friends can be difficult.

Sandra and Melissa didn’t know each other before working together but now they’re apparently inseparable. Heat director Paul Feig, who also directed Melissa in Bridesmaids, says that the two hit it off immediately.

“They are so close,” said Paul. “Melissa lives in my neighborhood and Sandra is over there all the time. At Halloween, Sandra was trick-or-treating in our neighborhood with Melissa’s kids. It’s very sweet that they hit it off so well.”

The ladies told SheKnows they have a lot in common as actresses, moms and comedians. Some of their favorite activities together: drinking and “tape play.” See what we mean in the video!

In the film Melissa and Sandra both play top law-enforcement agents who, while great at their jobs, have a hard time making friends. Sandra says she understands this and has dealt with it in her own life.

“It’s hard to make friends after a certain point in life,” said Bullock. “And it’s so silly, because you go to a playground and you see a 3-year-old making friends with everybody, even the one that’s kicking your butt. To make a connection, when you think you’ve made all the connections you’re going to make, is really sweet.”

Well, we're so happy these two have found each other! Don’t miss their amazing on-screen chemistry and hilarity in The Heat, in theaters today!
