Deadmau5 on split with Kat Von D: I was not unfaithful
DJ Deadmau5 speaks out after being accused of cheating by fiancée Kat Von D on Twitter.
In some ways, it seemed like a match made in Heaven: Goth tattoo artist Kat Von D and DJ Deadmau5. They may have had some rocky times, but Kat and Deadmau5 always made up and were often seen in public cuddling up to each other at events. This past winter, Deadmau5 proposed to Kat on Twitter with a simple message: "I can't wait for Christmas so.... Katherine Von Drachenberg, will you marry me?" Then, in April, Kat spoke about the underwater/Lovecraft theme of their upcoming nuptials.
Sadly, it has become clear recently that the two might not be able to kiss and make up this time as their relationship has hit another one of those rocky moments. Using Twitter for the less-than-happy news, Kat seemed to confirm rumors that Deadmau5 had been cheating on her, saying: "Cheating on your loved one is the most hurtful thing one could do. I hate to have to admit that this relationship is indeed over."
In return, Deadmau5 has chosen to share his side of the story using another social media platform: Facebook. Here's what he had to say:
All I am saying on the matter:
Kat and I split in November and I moved back home to Toronto. During this time, while we were broken up, I did have relations with another woman. Following that, Kat and I reconciled and I acknowledged being intimate with another person while we were estranged.
We did move past those issues and I proposed to Kat in mid- December. At the end of June, it was clear that the relationship was not working and we mutually ended the engagement. I was not, at any point, unfaithful to Kat during our time together.
I don't wish to go tit for tat with these kinds of pronouncements and don't expect to comment further, but I do believe that those who have expressed concern deserve a more complete understanding of what transpired.
