Live from TV Land: Hot in Cleveland gets the laughs
Can't get enough Betty White? Tune in as television's queen of comedy returns for a fifth season of the hilarious hit comedy Hot in Cleveland. Here's a peek at what's in store.
Hot in Cleveland LIVE season premiere coming June 19
Hot in Cleveland, starring Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and Betty White, will return to TV Land for its fifth season on June 19. Be prepared for anything to happen during the live season premiere June 19 at 10/9c on TV Land. Yes, the show will be broadcast live, with no cuts and no second takes! The premiere picks up where the winter season finale left off. (Hint: expect mobsters, mistaken identities, special guest stars and plenty of laughs!)
If you're new to Hot in Cleveland, let us catch you up. This breakout hit comedy follows three friends from Los Angeles whose plane is forced to make an emergency landing in Cleveland instead of its original destination, Paris. When the friends realize they're still "hot" in Cleveland, they move to the Midwest city for a fresh start. Often compared to the popular Golden Girls television comedy series, Hot in Cleveland's characters include:
- Elka Ostrovsky (Betty White) — The opinionated caretaker of the Victorian home the women rent
- Joy Scroggs (Jane Leeves) — Cynical yet vulnerable former "eyebrow styling queen" of Beverly Hills
- Victoria Chase (Wendie Malick) — Self-obsessed former soap opera star
- Melanie Moretti (Valerie Bertinelli) — Author, recent divorcee and hopeless romantic
You'll have to tune in on June 19 to see what's in store for the girls, but we can fill you in on a few guest stars who will make appearances on the premiere episode. The ever-popular William Shatner and The Office’s Brian Baumgartner will both guest star, as will Shirley Jones of The Partridge Family fame.
Mary Tyler Moore Show reunion
On Wednesday, September 4, Hot in Cleveland will feature a Mary Tyler Moore Show reunion episode, bringing together the original five cast members of the classic TV comedy. Valerie Harper, Cloris Leachman and Mary Tyler Moore will join Betty White and recurring actor Georgia Engel in this historic episode — the first time since the 1977 MTM season finale that the five former cast mates will appear together on a sitcom. We hear the characters will be organizing a reunion of their bowling team named GLOB (Gorgeous Ladies of Bowling). The reunion is especially poignant, as Valerie Harper recently announced that she is living with terminal brain cancer.
