I guess Taylor Swift lives by that old adage, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” Although, in her case it would be, “If you can’t write a song about them, write one with them.”
Well, now we know why. They were in the same hotel room because they were writing a song together.
OK, to be fair, the song they wrote together, “Everything Has Changed,” was actually written a while ago, so that excuse doesn’t really work.
Maybe they were planning out the video, which was released this past week.
In the video for “Everything Has Changed,” we meet little Taylor and little Ed — both around age 8 or so — on a school bus.
Little Ed reads the comics section of the paper and drinks coffee. Little Taylor makes masterful dessert artwork in cookie decorating class.
By the way, I may have been out of school for a while, but since when is cookie decorating a part of school? It must be a charter school for baking.
Little Ed and little Taylor do yoga together, text each other via their iPhones, and leave class to go on an adventure around the school where they draw all over themselves with markers and hide out in a very cool-looking tent.
By the way, I may have been out of school for a while, but since when do teachers not notice that two 8-year-olds have escaped class? Aren’t there hall monitors?
While they lounge in the grass, little Ed reads passages from The Notebook while little Taylor shows off her expert leaf-folding skills.
And when it’s time to go home, who picks up these star-crossed little lovebirds? Why, yes: little Taylor’s mom, Taylor Swift, and little Ed’s dad, Ed Sheeran, give glancing looks at each other while ushering their kids to the car.
Now, I will not even get into how 23-year-old Swift can have an 8-year-old daughter, but in a world where baking charter schools with tents are the norm, we must all suspend our belief.
So check it out and let us know what you think of Taylor and Ed’s new video.
