Whoa, hot momma! Katie Holmes stepped out in serious white hot style at this week’s Met Gala. The theme of the night was punk, but Katie stayed true to her elegant style in a flowing Calvin Klein white gown with an impressive train.
Katie looked ethereal, like a true style goddess. Her backless dress seemed to be holding on by a thread, with the side-boob thing going on and the flimsy neckline, but it worked — it really worked. In a crowd of celebs who took the punk theme to heart (some actually took it a bit too far, if you ask me!), Katie stood out with her unique style and made a major fashion statement.
The final verdict? I love how Katie only incorporated the punk theme a little, amping up her look with a bold ‘do and sultry, smoky eyes. It was a nice contrast to her otherwise clean, soft ensemble!
The Great Gatsby comes out in theaters today, wahoo! I think we can all admit to being a bit excited about this movie’s release, if only for the fashion. Continuing her fab fashion streak, the film’s star, Carey Mulligan, showed up to the Met Gala in a sleek, classy look that I loved.
The Alexander Wang creation wasn’t exactly over the top punk, but it was pretty awesome all the same. I’m digging the midriff cutouts (definitely on trend!), the bold shoulder structure and the unexpected safety pin detail at the top. Miss Mulligan topped the look off with black T-strap pumps, a geometric pump and a slicked back ‘do.
The final verdict? Carey looks gorgeous in this sleek ensemble. Sometimes, understated makes more of an impact than in your face, and in this case, the sharp lines and tasteful tailoring of this dress definitely left more of an impression on me than some of the loud frocks other stars sported.
