Like to travel? Hate the fuss of packing beauty items? Me too. Let's take a look at some options for packing light while still having all your beauty essentials on board!

Travel makeup

If you travel often, you realize just how fussy packing beauty products can be. Half of my luggage is swamped with hair products, makeup, skin care, and now that it's summer, body moisturizers and tanners. It can become crazy really quickly! Here are some of my top tips for traveling with your beauty items.

Purchase refillable bottles

Purchase refillable bottles

Purchase refillable bottles that are three ounces for your shampoo, conditioner, body lotions, skin care, moisturizers, etc. You'll have plenty of products to last for your entire trip, and if your luggage gets lost, at least the full-size bottles are safely at home, and this keeps it small and simple for you. Less weight too! You can buy color coordinated bottles for your shampoo and conditioner and then color coordinated bottles for your skin care and body items. I went a step further and purchased stickers and Sharpie pens to label my bottles.

Only pack the essentials

Only pack the essentials

Don't throw every piece of makeup you own into your makeup bag. Instead pack these:

  • BB cream
  • Medium coverage setting powder
  • Bronzer
  • Blush
  • Lash curler
  • Black mascara
  • Cotton swabs
  • Two shades of lip color, one dramatic and one natural

This is plenty and you'll look refined every day! Once you have all of these items, find a small to medium makeup bag to carry them in.

Use a travel case for brushes

Use a travel case for brushes

Protect your travel brushes by purchasing a brush case that has separate pockets for each brush and a protector flap. It doesn't hurt if it's cute! See how these brushes have a safe home to travel in? They won't get smashed or contaminated. Never throw your makeup brushes separately into your makeup bag that holds your cosmetic items. The bristles will get ruined and bacteria will spread easily to them.

Now that all your items are safely stored, you're ready to hit the road!
