Friday's Fashion Fails: Ashley Judd and Elisabeth Moss
Oops... even celebrities get it wrong sometimes! We're telling you why Ashley Judd and Elisabeth Moss' Emmy fashions fell short in our weekly feature. Learn from the stars' sartorial slip ups!
Wow, Ashley Judd's Emmy ensemble is giving us an '80s flashback. The Missing actress wore a berry colored Carolina Herrera halter dress and a big old beehive (or is it a pompadour?) hairdo to TV's biggest night.
We'll get to that hair in a second, but first, let's discuss the gown. The color is nice, but between the giant bow, the belt, the brooch and the bell-shaped bottom, Ashley needs to rein it in. There's too much going on here, sister. The giant bow on the neckline has been done before (and far better) by Nicole Kidman at the Oscars back in 2007, babe.
Clearly Ash has taken the expression "The higher the hair, the closer to God" to heart here. What else could explain this over-the-top updo? A sleek chignon or loose waves would have been way more chic.
The final verdict? Ashley was nominated for an Emmy but didn't win, and she's certainly not winning any style awards in this disaster either. Better luck next time on both fronts!
What's black, floral and fugly all over? If you guessed Elisabeth Moss' Emmy dress, you're right! The Mad Men star hit the red carpet wearing this unfortunate Dolce & Gabbana creation. She looks more like she's heading to a flamenco dancing class than a fancy Hollywood awards show.
What's with all of the ruffles going on? From the bodice to the waist to the train, this is simply just too much ruching. A busy print plus a ton of ruffles and a peplum does not equal a flattering fit, Elizabeth! Just because peplums are in style doesn't mean every dress needs one.
This D&G gown also reminds us of a mullet: short in the front, long in the back. And just like that awful hairstyle is always a don't, so is this dress.
The final verdict? Just like Ashley, Elisabeth was nominated for an Emmy but lost. But let's look on the bright side: Unlike Ash, at least Elisabeth had the good sense to keep her hair simple since her floral frock was already so darn busy.
