Review: Benefit Cosmetics Snow White and the Huntsman Rare Beauty Kit
Universal Pictures' Snow White and the Huntsman opens in theaters everywhere on June 1, and Benefit Cosmetics has brought you a fairy tale in a train case. Check out this Limited Edition offering and see if it's for you.
As a child, Snow White was pretty much a staple view. Despite rerun after rerun, I never got tired of watching Disney's most innocent face. Now, as an adult, Universal Pictures' Snow White and the Huntsman promises to be equally entertaining with a darker edge.
Benefit Cosmetics' Limited Edition Snow White and the Huntsman Rare Beauty Kit($45) promises the purchaser a chance to be the "fairest in the land" -- and inside the kit are the brand's key essentials that will get you ready in a jiffy.
First of all, the packaging and the train case, which comes in a fairy tale-inspired lavender and silver metallic print, are nothing short of beautiful. It's a total crowd pleaser, and the print is soft and inspired, with a silhouette of Snow White and her prince charming woven everywhere. In short, it's a train case you'd be proud to carry everywhere.
And inside, here's what you'll find:
- BADgal Lash Mascara (full size, retails for $19): Personally one of my all-time favorite mascaras, BADgal lengthens your lashes and really gives you thick, beautiful, fairy tale eyes. It's a good inclusion in the kit, and very fairy tale appropriate.
- The POREfessional (full size, retails for $29): This professional balm minimizes the appearance of pores. Whoever heard of a heroine with large pores? The POREfessional is both silky and lightweight -- true to promise -- and it's oil-free too, so you can use it under makeup.
- Benetint (sample size): This sample size of Benetint is great for travel, and a little bit of color is good for your cheeks and lips. This is such a great color for that silver-screened heroine because it gives you that innocent flush look -- not too much color and just enough.
- High Beam (sample size): If you want to be the fairest in the land, you've got to amp up your wattage. Not by swallowing a light bulb, but by using a complexion enhancer which will give your cheeks that silver screen glow. This is a sample size in the kit, but enough to give you an "angelic sheen" with its pink shimmering glow. Plus, it works on all skin tones.
Yay or nay?
If you're a collector of Limited Edition items, the value of the contents alone will pay for themselves (you get the makeup case and more for just $45), so if you were planning to stock up on POREfessional and BADgal Lash Mascara, then why not buy this set? It's great value for more. And if you're hooked on the movie with Kristen Stewart, give this one a splurge. After all, it's just the price of about four movie tickets.
