Get the look: Taking your jeans day to night
Jeans aren't only reserved for casual daytime wear. With the right accessories, hairstyle and makeup, you can take your favorite pair of jeans from day to night without missing a beat.
Choose the right jeans
Not every pair of jeans is suited for every occasion. For a night out, you shouldn't wear light wash or distressed jeans; instead, pick a darker jean. Dark wash denim makes jeans appear a little more dressy and chic. Another advantage is that they'll make you look slimmer. Instead of relaxed or loose jeans, stick to a bootcut, classic straight leg or skinny jean instead.
Pick the right shoes
Ballerina flats, espadrilles and wedges are fine by day. However, if you want to dress up your look for evening, you should change your shoes. Metallic flats, sky-high stilettos, trendy ankle boots and chunky platforms will take any pair of jeans from day to night.

Grab a smaller bag
If you often go out right after work, keep a smaller handbag in your car. You don't need a large satchel or tote when you go out at night. A sparkling clutch or little wristlet bag is the perfect complement to your nighttime jeans. Don't worry about not having enough room for your essentials. At night, you don't usually need much more than your cell phone, credit card, ID and lipstick.
Pull up your hair
The easiest way to take your jeans from day to night is by changing your hair and makeup. Pull your hair into a simple chignon, topknot or braided up-do. You don't have to redo your daytime makeup, though -- just enhance it by adding a shimmery eyeshadow and another coat of mascara. A darker shade of lipstick and a touch of gloss will also rev up your look.

Even if you are wearing a plain tee with your jeans, you can take the look from drab to fab by adding statement jewelry. You don't need to over accessorize, though; instead, pick one bold element and flaunt it. A chunky cocktail ring, dangling chandelier earrings or an unusual cuff bracelet will do the trick. You can pick a dramatic, long necklace with a single, large pendant or a short choker comprised from a number of stones.
When it comes to necklaces, experiment with color. Orange, blue and green stones are hot right now -- the bigger the better.
