5 Fall makeup trends
Fashion isn't the only thing that shifts with the seasons: Makeup colors and beauty trends also change. Here's a look at the latest makeup trends for fall.
Shades of wine in glossy or matte are hot right now in everything from fashion to makeup. You'll love the look of deep burgundy lips. We adore the rich, shiny look seen at the Gucci show (above). For a softer shine, try Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey ($14.50). This iconic, blackened raisin shade looks fabulous with any complexion.
Gold eye shadow
Gold and bronze eye shadows are perfect for fall. Deep metallic shades create a sexy, smoky eye for evening, but you don't have to overdo them. You can wear them subtly, even for daytime. We love Tarina Tarantino's Sparklicity Pure Gold ($19), which you can wear on eyes, cheeks and lips. Plum and aqua eye shadows are also trendy.
From runways to city streets, thick, natural brows are back in a big way this season. Remember that natural doesn't mean unruly or unkempt. Pluck away stray hairs regularly and keep your strong brows in check with an eyebrow gel or a touch of Vaseline. If your brows are a bit sparse, fill them in with a pencil that is just one shade darker than your natural brows.
Partner the ladylike fashions of fall with a simple, sophisticated nude nail color. No matter how long your nails are, they can look fabulous in a nude shade. For shorter nails, you can go glossy; keep long nails matte. For a real bargain, try Essie Nail Polish in Sandy Beach. For less than $5, this nail polish can't be beat.
Pops of juicy color
Don't put away your citrus lipstick just because summer's over: Juicy pops of color are hot right now. Adding a surprising splash of color -- whether it's tangerine lips or red eye shadow -- will brighten up your look. Check out M·A·C Lipstick in Neon Orange ($14.50).
