4th of July cocktails & makeup ideas

It's the Fourth of July holiday weekend, finally! We here at SheKnows are heading to the beach, barbeques, cocktail parties and other exciting locales. We imagine you're doing the same. Part of looking and feeling your best is relaxing, and we've got some fun ideas for that very thing. You'll probably have your picture taken sipping drinks poolside, and we have some cocktails with lip color to match. We suggest a contrasting straw to make you look like a summer stunner.

First, we are and always have been in love with Clinique's Long Last Lipstick in Pink Moon. It's a great shade for those with light to medium skin and it stays on, even if you take a dip in the pool. Wrap your lips in this luscious color. You can even blend a bit on the apples of the cheek and a bit in the crease of the eye. Add a bit of waterproof mascara to complete the look.

With this look, we suggest sipping on a Fusion Fizz. Fill a glass with ice and add equal parts of seltzer or lemon lime soda (calorie free, of course) and X-Rated Fusion Liqueur, which is a blend of premium French vodka and Sicilian blood orange juice with hints of mango and passion fruit. We're drooling just thinking about it. Or you could mix this up and freeze into ice pops for an adult pool party.

For those with a love for flaming reds, we suggest Too Faced's Lip of Luxury lipstick in Runway Red. Great staying power and super smooth application. Plus, it's the perfect crimson. Great for most skin tones since it doesn't go too orange or pink. Keep the rest of the face light, with just a bit of waterproof black liner and mascara. For this look, we suggest Dragon Queen as a beverage. In a champagne glass, combine a shot of Skyy Infusions Dragonfruit, cranberry juice and a splash of seltzer. Toss in a twist of lime and stick in a green straw to match. For extra glam (and sun protection), toss on a black, wide-brimmed hat. You're so Hollywood!

We spent some time in Brazil recently and fell in love with their national drink, the caipirinha. This is made by placing 1/2 a lime cut into four wedges in an Old Fashioned glass and muddling them. Add ice and two teaspoons of sugar (or Splenda). Fill the glass with the traditional sugar cane-derived cachaca (available in most liquor stores) and sip. For natural girls, brush a bit of bronzer on the cheeks and eyes and soften your lips with Sugar's Tinted Lip Treatment in their new color, Sugar Honey, which will enhance your natural color.

For those with a deeper skin tone, we've got a gorgeous plum look paired with a delectable drink. Kissable Couture has a stunning gloss in Tyler. We suggest drenching your lips in this and adding a flush of plum cheek stain. To quench your thirst, try a Fireworks Fizz. Take a shot of Skyy Infusions Grape vodka, a spoonfull of sugar and muddled fresh blueberries. (Muddling gets our aggression. Not a boad benefit.) Top with ginger ale. Sip it through shiny lips and relax.
