Kate Middleton: No free clothes for me, thanks
Kate Middleton really is the new people's princess -- she wears discount outfits and insists on paying for her designer duds.
Some of the most popular couture designers in the world are dying to dress Kate Middleton – after all, she's one of the most fashionable women in the world. However, Middleton prefers to dress herself, thankyouverymuch.
Middleton "has a policy not to accept any free offers of clothing. We would never discuss the prices paid for individual items -- these will remain private between the Duchess and the designers. She will not receive any special clothing budget for the Canada and California tour," a rep for the couple told People.
So, it's pretty much a win-win for designers: they get paid for the outfits Middleton chooses and they get the huge publicity and sales boost from being associated with the newlywed.
The new Duchess of Cambridge is reportedly striking private deals with designers to outfit her with clothes for her upcoming trip to North America with Prince William. No word on which designers Middleton is working with, we're betting her favorites Alexander McQueen, Jenny Packham and Reiss are on the list.
Oh – and we can't wait for this: Middleton and Prince William will be attending a rodeo and BBQ during their trip to North America where they "will be given 10-gallon cowboy hats and are expected to dress in jeans and casual western clothes for the extravaganza."
Wills and Kate in cowboy hats? We're getting our cameras ready now.
