Foundation can be a blessing or a curse to women depending on what formula and shade they choose. There are so many formulas on the market that it becomes hard to decide which one is right for you and the right consistency can easily enhance your skin, while the wrong formula can accentuate imperfections. Here is a guide to picking the right type of foundation to suit your skin’s needs:
If you have oily or acne prone skin:
Look for a formula that has salicylic acid and caffeine to help clear pores and prevent future breakouts.
For anti-aging benefits:
Choose a formula that has ingredients like hyaluronic acid, vitamin E and/or vitamin C for anti-oxidant benefits. These added ingredients act like an anti-aging serum for your skin.
For sensitive skin:
Try a mineral formula. Mineral formulas have all-natural ingredients, excellent coverage (and SPF protection) without irritating your skin.
For long-lasting results:
Try an airbrush foundation- whether from a can or an at-home airbrush machine. The foundation is very sheer and lightly mists on your face, allowing for one coat or more depending on the coverage you need. Airbrush foundation is also ideal to hide fine lines and wrinkles since the light formula won’t settle in the skin.
For on-the-go coverage:
Try a cream stick foundation. The formulas offer great coverage and the ease of a concealer.
For dry skin:
Look for a formula that has a moisturizer built in. Many of these formulas are “whipped” or in mousse form and feel creamy to the touch.
For maximum coverage:
Try a cream to powder compact foundation. These formulas glide on skin as a cream and finish with a soft-powder matte look.
