8 Hot winter makeup trends
The weather might already be cold, but the makeup trends are just warming up. We culled all that’s hot in winter makeup trends and picked our favorite eight to share.
Throw your tweezers away, ladies, because monster eyebrows are one of the hottest trends this winter. This natural look takes some maintenance, though. You'll want to fill in your brows with a pencil that is a few shades darker than your natural brow color so they really make a statement.
Deep, dark nails
Vampires seem to be everywhere this season, and your fingertips are no exception. Danielle of the blog MusingsFromManhattan.com says that vampy colors, such as Essie's Wicked, are a huge trend this winter. We love the understated sexy edge of these deep, rich colors.
Go big or go home this season when it comes to your eyes. Anything and everything under the sun works with eye makeup this winter -- aside from subtle, that is. Check out what Chanel is doing with funky prints on eyelids. Wild!
This is a look that's been around just about as long as makeup has, but this makeup trend is back with a vengeance this season. Here's a tip: If you're doing bold lips, go easy on the rest of your face to avoid looking like a clown.
With everything else that's going on, it makes sense that a lot of cheeks are bare or neutral this season. And with the cold weather, you'll get a natural blush as soon as you step outside anyway.
We give the credit for this trend to Drew Barrymore. She was the first we saw rocking the ombre hair color -- dark roots with light tips -- in a major way and many celebs have followed suit. It's an easy look to maintain, because dark roots are the goal. You gotta love that kind of maintenance!
Reverse French manicure
This is a fun way to get some quirk into your look without crossing the line to zany. Instead of painting the tips of your nails a different color from the base of your nail, paint the crescent by your cuticle a different shade. It's a fun flip on a classic look.
Heavy on the moisturizer
This isn't really a trend, but it is a winter beauty must: Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. With the dry winter air and overheated rooms, you need to work overtime to make sure your skin doesn't get parched. Pick up a moisturizer with SPF so you're protecting your skin on all levels.
That wraps up this winter beauty report! Have a fabulous winter, beauties.
