Why settle for looking great just on special occasions? Armed with these tips and secrets gleaned from the world's top beauty gurus, you can be red-carpet gorgeous all year round.

Make Up Artist

it's a harsh world

I recently had the humbling experience at an Academy Awards party of observing a couch full of aspiring actresses critique each and every woman who walked on stage.

Having spent the last week learning about what it takes to get Red Carpet Gorgeous, (a lot of time, effort, money, and the indispensable help of mega-talented hair, skin and makeup experts) it was crushing to see that even the most beautiful women in the world cannot always stand up to harsh scrutiny. For me, this experience once again underscores the most important element of being beautiful -- it's all about what's inside -- as well as the old adage, "You can't please all the people all the time," which is never truer than when all eyes are turned in your direction.

Honey, you're worth it!

When I met Christopher Watt, the first thing I noticed was his skin. It was glowing beautifully and the perfect advertisement for the celebrity clientele that flocks to his lovely salon in West Hollywood. Working on the flawless faces of stars like Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Rose McGowan and Melissa Joan Hart, Christopher proceeded to give me his renowned Honey Facial while explaining the natural ingredients he was using.

Pampered like a star

After cleansing my face, he applied the following luxurious ingredients:

  • Pumpkin Harvest Honey Scrub
  • Papaya Pineapple Honey Smoothie, then did extractions
  • Applied a Collagen Amino Acid Honey Mask
  • Administered a high frequency treatment to kill bacteria
  • I enjoyed a shoulder and arm massage
  • Honey Hand Treatment
  • Yin Yang Honey Whip

Needless to say I floated out with Red Carpet worthy skin feeling very relaxed. In addition to a fantastic line of skin care products, Watt shared a variety of do-it-yourself healthy skin care recipes that utilize the rejuvenating and healing benefits of honey. Skin is top priority

Every makeup pro that I have ever talked to has stressed that the most important element is beautiful skin because makeup can only do so much. Improving the appearance of your skin texture is one of the best investments that you can make if you're serious about looking your best.

Beverly Hills dermatologist Lawrence Rivkin recommends PhotoRejuvenation, which is designed to improve the appearance of sun spots, age spots, dull complexions, uneven pigmentation, large pores, sun-damaged skin and early signs of aging. It will also improve red skin, Rosacea, broken capillaries and make skin smoother with an even tone.

Discomfort is minimal and you're able to resume regular activity immediately. An intense light is applied in a series of gentle pulses over the treatment area. Without damaging the skin, the light penetrates through the skin and is absorbed by the pigmentation. As the body begins its natural healing process, the lesion darkens and flakes off within a week or two. For more information go to visit Derm90210.

Stay current with beauty trends

No need to cake on makeup, especially when the newest makeup trends are all about having a natural, clean, and fresh face. Even the most extreme rock'n'roll looks parading down the runways are relying on natural skin. Part of a great skin regime requires sun block playing an imperative role, not only for the beauty benefit, but also for the health risks associated with sun exposure. An excellent choice is Aveeno Sunblock Lotion with SPF 30 and SPF 45, Aveeno Sunblock Lotion for Face with SPF 30, or Aveeno Sunblock Spray with SPF 30. Visit

Red carpet hair

I knew I was going to get along with famed hairstylist Barry Reitman of Juan Juan Salon because he was friendly and approachable, despite the fact that he spent last Sunday getting stars ready for the Oscars and regularly travels around the world styling the hair of royalty and such.

I'd been carrying a dog-eared magazine photo of the hairstyle I wanted in my handbag for over a year. After making sure that we were on the same page about the color, Barry not only nailed it, he color-corrected my hair giving it a rich and subtle glaze and leaving me happier than I've ever been after a cut. I highly recommend searching for this chemistry with your stylist. To schedule an appointment with Barry Reitman contact Juan Juan Salon.

Water, water everywhere

Evian Natural Spring Water has long been regarded as a symbol of health, youth and well being. I had the pleasurable experience this past week of indulging in Evian detox treatments at their Beverly Hills spa. By exposing skin to Evian soaked hot towels immediately followed with Evian ice plunged towels, circulation is increased, toxins are removed, and the skin is oxygenated. Treatments include a pressure point Reflexology, an Evian detoxifying stone massage, an Evian detoxifying facial, and a neck and shoulder massage.
