Rita Ora and Pharrell design collections for Adidas

You may have noticed Rita Ora looking like a walking Adidas ad recently. The reason why has now become clear: she’s just revealed that she’s teaming up with the sportswear brand for five capsule collections.

Congratulations to Rita Ora, who has become the first female musical artist to collaborate with Adidas. In true 2014 style, Rita announced the partnership on her Instagram page. Between now and autumn 2015, we’ll see five different capsule collections — Black, Pastel, Colorblock Packs, Spray and Roses — inspired by the singer’s personality, music and artistic tastes.

It’s official my first collection for Adidas!!! Yes finally! Me and my team have worked so hard together to create the best sexiest coolest sportswear possible.

“I wanted people to be comfortable but be sexy at the same time,” Rita revealed when asked about the design process. Standout items include a leather jacket with glow-in-the-dark embellishments and a hooded raincoat in a flower and insect print.

The first collection, Black, will hit stores on Aug. 21, followed by Spray and Roses on Nov. 1.

Efforts to increase the brand’s cool factor began in January this year when Adidas relaunched the classic Stan Smith trainer, which had been out of commission since 2012. Two months later, it was declared the unofficial shoe of choice behind the scenes at Paris Fashion Week.

In March, Adidas announced that Pharrell Williams was collaborating on a collection of attire and sneakers, which is expected to launch this summer. Part of the range will include materials from Pharrell’s textile company, Bionic Yarn, which turns plastic debris from the oceans into yarn and fabric.

Undoubtedly, welcoming Rita and Pharrell into the Adidas family will further increase the appeal of the brand to style-savvy sportswear fans.
