It’s hard enough to get up in the morning, take a shower, eat breakfast and, if you have kids, get them ready for school, all while getting yourself beautified and ready for your day ahead. Don’t get discouraged; these beauty tips will get you all set — without any fuss or stress.
Wash your face
No matter how lazy you’re feeling, there’s no getting around this one. You need to wash your face every morning, as the whole time you were getting your beauty sleep, dirt and bacteria were collecting on your face. To make this process a little more appealing, try one of St. Ives’ face scrubs, like their Green Tea Scrub or Naturally Clear Blemish Fighting Apricot Cleanser, both of which have pleasant scents to make this morning beauty ritual a lot more bearable.
Shower instead of bathe
Take a quick shower instead of indulging in a long, relaxing bath. Use shower gels and washes that have “wake me up” aromas, like ylang-ylang, mango or peony. Mango Temptation Daily Body Wash by Victoria’s Secret ($10) is a good product to try if you’re tired of your regular soaps. It features a mix of mango nectar and hibiscus scents that will make you smell and feel great.
Combine your moisturizer with SPF
The idea of putting on a separate moisturizer and SPF can be a little tiresome, especially when you barely have the energy to pull the shirt over your head. Find a moisturizer with SPF already in it so you can shorten your face prep time. No matter the season or your skin type, there’s a moisturizer plus SPF out there for you. One favourite dual moisturizer-SPF product I recommend is Neutrogena Moisture SPF 15 ($12 at Walmart). It contains UVA and UVB sun protection and is non-greasy — ideal for normal to dry skin.
Conceal it up
One of the main annoyances for a lazy girl is that she just doesn’t have the time or feel like putting on her makeup so early in the morning. From applying foundation to brushing on blush and sweeping on eyeshadow, it seems like our morning makeup ritual never ends. But don’t get fed up; there is a solution, and it’s called concealer! If you already use concealer, then you know it’s the best makeup product to have in your bag. Whether it’s evidence of a late night or those pesky blemishes on your right cheek, this magic stick will help cover it up. One that never fails is NARS’ concealer ($25 at Sephora), which perfectly conceals dark spots and any other imperfection; you won’t even notice you’re wearing it.
Invest in the power couple
The power couple in this case is no other than mascara and lipstick. These two beauty saviours are usually so easy to put on, you won’t even realize the time it takes to do it. One good mascara and lipstick combo is Maybelline’s Great Lash mascara and MAC Cosmetics’ signature lipstick — both great products that do the job right. And if you’re not a lipstick person, a lip gloss in a flirty shade like MAC’s Dazzleglass ($23) will work just as well.
