Do you have more of a laid-back office? Or maybe you’re just getting ready for your next casual Friday? Follow these style dos and don’ts to master the business casual dress code with ease.
With most offices these days moving away from buttoned-up, stuffy dressing and into a more casual vibe, it’s now, more than ever, crucial to understand the rules of what’s appropriate (and what’s not!) when it comes to dressing semi-formal, semi-chill. Not sure if your outfit choices make the cut? No worries, we’re here to help. Just follow our business casual checklist below!
Do wear a button-front shirt
When in doubt, always throw on a button-front shirt. A crisp option always looks sophisticated. Plus, you can either tuck it in for that important meeting or leave undone for more of an informal look.
Do wear jewelry
A simple way to make anything look dressier, but not too dressy? Stack on a few jewels. Wearing a short-sleeve blouse? Make your wrist stand out with a couple of bangles. Wearing that classic button-front shirt (like above!), go for a necklace or a sweet pair of studs.

Don’t wear jeans
If you’re going for a business casual look, don’t wear jeans. You’ll appear way too casual. Opt for black slacks as another option.

Don’t rock a tee
Under no circumstance should you ever wear a T-shirt. Even if you’re layering over a cardigan. Try a pretty blouse instead. Plus, one in a silk or soft cotton is just as cozy as a tee.
