Photo diary: Getting pretty for the CMA Awards red carpet
The Henningsens are responsible for the hit country singles "American Beautiful" and most recently "I Miss You." Not only does their music rock, but their lead vocalist Clara Henningsen is American beautiful and SheKnows went behind the scenes with Clara to play dress up for the 47th Annual CMA Awards.
Professional makeup artist Paula Turner used Bobbi Brown's cream back eyeliner (Nordstrom, $23), the Too Faced Sexy Eyeshadow Palette (toofaced.com, $48) and something Paula swears by, CoverGirl Professional Remarkable Washable Waterproof Mascara (Walgreens, $6).
For Clara's lips, Paula applied Smashbox lip gloss in "Tease" for a pop of color to go with her gown choice which is a vintage gem from Pure Vida Vintage in Nashville. About the lip gloss, Clara said, "I really like it. It seems to stay really well which is great because I like to talk and sing a lot!"
To give Clara the glow she needed for a special night, Paula used Benefit Hoola bronzer (Sephora, $28). "My favorite product today is the Hoola Benefit Bronzer. I love the shade and Paula does it so well." Clara also wore Stila Cream Blush in "petunia" (stilacosmetics.com, $25) and a translucent powder by Amazing Cosmetics (Sephora, $27).
"Paula used a big-barrel curling iron, then pinned 20 to 30 individual curls for me that set for about 45 minutes during my makeup. She later used a hair pick to pick through it and finished with a couple of extra curls and the Oribe products."
To give Clara a finished hairstyle with texture and volume, Paula used Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray (Oribe.com, $39). To make sure that Clara's curls lasted all night, Paula also used Oribe Superfine Strong Hair Spray (Oribe.com, $36). By the looks of her hairstyle, it seemed like the perfect combination.
