Friday's Fashion Fails: Lena Dunham and Amanda Peet
Oops... even celebrities get it wrong sometimes! We're telling you why Lena Dunham and Amanda Peet's Emmys fashions fell short in our weekly feature. Learn from the stars' sartorial slip ups!
Oh dear, Lena Dunham... where do we begin with this floral disaster you wore for the Emmys? The Girls actress and producer chose this teal Prada gown with orange flowers and way too much volume for the big show on Sunday, and we can't imagine what she was thinking. Does her stylist hate her?
It's great that Lena is comfortable with her body and curves, but she couldn't have chosen a more figure unflattering dress if she tried! That huge billowing skirt is adding so much unnecessary bulk to her waist and lower body. We're not sure if the quirky star is trying to make some sort of statement, but it's lost in translation on us.
The final verdict? We think Lena's little sister said it best. "It's like the Delia's catalogue made a red carpet dress!" - my sister giving me the truest compliment when I showed her my Emmy look," Lena Tweeted of her sis' reaction to the garish gown. We don't think looking like you ordered the gown you wore to the Emmys from a cheap catalog for middle school girls is a compliment, Lena.
The Good Wife gone goth! Actress and mother Amanda Peet looked like she was en route to a Halloween witches' gathering instead of the Emmy awards in this Erdem black gown she wore for the red carpet Sunday. Double, double, toil and trouble... all she's missing is the broomstick!
There are so many things we don't dig about this dress, starting with the turtleneck top and long sleeves, which feel very stuffy and off season for September in Los Angeles. And what's with the two skirts on the gown? The lacy print on the first piece is pretty but the funky texture on the longer hemline is hideous.
The final verdict? Amanda's mess of a dress would need a drastic overhaul to make it a do. We'd suggest ditching the neck, sleeves and polka dotted skirt. If she were to wear a sleeveless, shorter version, it could be OK but save this particular one for a Halloween costume party, please.
