A look at NY fashion week in 2007
Victorian couch & home furnishings prints at Anna Sui
The rules applied to others at Fashion Week, strangely never seem to apply to Anna Sui, otherwise, her line would have disappeared long ago. More Victorian chair prints at Anna Sui
Thankfully she exists, because no matter how mish-mash her collection may be, with jolts of orange and purple and reference to all things home-furnishings, it doesn’t matter, Anna Sui creates a world firmly her own. Super cool double strap Mary Janes at Anna Sui
The reason Anna Sui gets away with her outrageous disparate pairings is because everyone can always find more than a few wonderful pieces worth having in her collection. Loving this Anna Sui faux leopard coat!
Meanwhile, Peter Som, who is known for his wonderful cocktail dresses, sent out frocks that had a slightly fussy feel with all those organza bows at the neck.
Lovely detailing at Peter Som
There were still some beautiful picks from his collection (see photo above) and an overall trend toward downtown dressing. The simpler cuts in the collection were what worked for me. Stunning simple evening gown at Peter Som
Over at Richard Chai, he was busy doing things with bands of color both horizontally and vertically.
Some criticized his look as being all over the place, ranging from ladylike to space age, but for me, the circular seams that follow a woman’s curves were enough to keep it interesting.
This coat is a great example of how Chai carryied the banded theme into solids just through the cut.
