Rectangle body shapes are straight up and down without a defined waist. To give the illusion of more curves, choose skirts that provide a girly shape.
Skirts for rectangles
“Any trim that has flounce or ruffle is fantabulous, and try to keep the skirt’s overall shape close to the body. This way the skirt doesn’t overwhelm your trim little body,” says fashion expert and TV personality Jeannie Mai.
“Another option is to choose a skirt that flares. A cinched waist and a style with volume are the perfect way to make hips look, well, hippier,” explains Mai. A-line skirts and tulip skirts are also curve-creating options.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Keira Knightley, Reese Witherspoon, Kate Hudson, Nicole Richie and many models have rectangle body shapes.
